Bobby started his Jiu-Jitsu training in the Royce Gracie network of schools in January of 2003. His first school was Jacksonville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. There, Bobby was able to train under long time instructors Larry Shealy, Jon Burke, Apperacido Bill, Charles DosAnjos and Thomas Strickland.

In January 2005, Bobby became a student of Jon Burke (Royce Gracie Black Belt and Chief Instructor of Gracie Orlando). Jon was an instructor at The Gracie Academy and one of Royce's first black belts. While studying under Jon, Bobby was also able to train with MMA superstar Rodrigo Gracie.

Bobby is an avid competitor and has competed in numerous Jiu-Jitsu competitions including the NAGA West Palm Beach (2008),NAGA Georgia State Open (2006), NAGA US Nationals (2004), NAGA World Championships (2003), Pan Ams (2003), NAGA Pro Ams (2003) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Grappling Classic (2003).
